The Connecticut River Artisans Cooperative was founded in 1980 by seven local craftspeople, and was originally located at the Goodspeed Landing in East Haddam, Connecticut. In 1985, the shop relocated to nearby Chester, which has been its home ever since. Now we are in a gallery that's built just for us- at 5 West Main Street/Rte.148. Our home is also the home of the Mill House,

are galleries of
fine art. The Artisans is a group of artists who have joined together to offer their artwork for sale in a unique co-op setting. It is a not-for-profit organization featuring fine traditional and contemporary handcrafts. Operated by its artist members, the co-op gives the public the opportunity to meet the artists. Its purpose is to encourage fine craftsmanship and to provide a marketplace for original works of art.
The gallery's floors are constantly changing with new works of art and featured exhibits. Much of the work is a "one-of-a-kind" creation. Many of the artists do special orders for customers. The artists specialize in unique! Visitors to the Connecticut River Artisans are encouraged to browse at their own pace. Any questions are happily answered by the staff artist.
